Who we are
The FDT Group is an open, independent, not-for-profit association of international companies dedicated to establishing the FDT Technology as an international standard with broad acceptance in the automation industry.
It is open to all companies that wish to participate.
A brief history
The FDT Group was started in early 2003 as an informal association by ABB, Endress+Hauser, Invensys, Metso, and Siemens.
With a growing number of members, it was decided to formally organize it as a legally independent entity.
Therefore the “FDT Group” was founded in September 2005 as an International Not-For-Profit Association (AISBL) according to Belgian law.
The FDT Group organization
The Group is headed by a Board of Directors, elected by the General Assembly. The Board of directors decides on the Group’s strategy and appoints an Executive Committee which is responsible for the execution.
The strategy’s practical implementation is assigned to several working groups responsible for technology development, marketing, associations & standardization, and administration. A special Work Group is dedicated to organizing Users Forums as the key platform for end users to give their input and feedback.

As of May 2011, 82 companies within the Factory and Process Automation industries have pledged their support to FDT Technology and the FDT Group.
FDT specification is freely available to all companies that wish to utilize it.
