The following illustration shows the certification process.
The FDT Group certification process consists of three steps:
- At first the manufacturer develops a DTM or a frame application and puts them through extensive internal testing. Then the manufacturer contracts an accredited test laboratory for an independent conformity test.
- Next, the test laboratory tests the software in compliance with the rules of the FDT certification office and issues a test report. The test laboratory and the developers team ensure final conformance to the FDT specification.
- The manufacturer submits the test report to the certification office and receives a certificate of conformance. The certified product is listed in the catalog of certified products on the FDT Group website.
Certification ensures conformance of the tested product with the FDT specification. It does not check for interoperability between the products and other certified devices or frames. This additional check is performed in the permanent interoperability test lab.
